Happy Memorial Day

Memorial Day is a time to show our troops appreciation for all that they do for our country. More over it is a time for us to remember those that have paid the ultimate sacrfice for the freedom that we have today. As we celebrate the days festivities let us not forget those that have given their lives and remember to keep their families in our prayers. This Memorial will be hard for the families that have lost a soldier recently. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the following soldiers and their families:

SGT Carl Morgain 1-112th INF (22 May 2005)

PFC Travis Anderson 2-7th INF (13 May 2005)

SSG Steven Bayow 2-7th INF (04 Feb 2005)

SGT Daniel Torres 2-7th INF (04 Feb 2005)

Our thoughts and prayers also go out to all the troops that have been wounded. May God bring confort to them and their families and may they have a speedy recovery. Also we remember all the Iraqi soldiers that have given their lives so that their country may some day enjoy the same freedom that we all know and love. Our prayers are with their families.

May we never forget those that have given their lives; Past and Present, for our counrty and our freedom.

Next meeting will be on August 21st at the Walter's Avenue Armory. It will start around 2 PM. Drinks will be provided. If you would like to bring a snack for the group that would be great. We will also have games and things for the children to do. Hope to see you there. We are also excepting nominations for the Treasurer and Secretary positions. Nominations will be open until further notice. For more information on volenteering for one of these officer positions please contact Mary Lehman or Kathy Kovach.

We have received many great ideas on projects and packages for the troops.

We have been working on the neckbands for the soldiers. They are coming along well. Friday, I mailed them out to two platoons. If your soldiers are in Maint or the Mortar platoon please let me know when they get them. The scouts received these the other day, they were sent out early since Denise volenteered to make them for that platoon. If you would like to help, it would be greatly appreciated. let Mary Lehman know if you can by phone (814) 525-1598 or email at armywife413@verizon.net. Thank you to everyone that showed up to help. Also thank you to all of you that helped out with them from your homes. But we still need more volenteers to get them done. Thank you everyone in advance.

The project to collect donations for items for our guys to hand out to the local Iraqi children will be going on at least until September. This gives us time to put boxes for collections at local schools and businesses. If you would like a flyer to post or more information email the above address.
